Composition: In this photo of train tracks you can see the use of leading lines. The train tracks act as a line that leads your eyes to the horizon. Also, the black and white creates a mysterious feeling that really gives the train tracks an abandon feeling. If this photo was in color the train tracks would be given more life and it would make it seem like they are used regularly and not abandoned.
Technical Aspect: The photo of train tracks has a large depth of field. The train tracks do not fill the entire frame which allows for the foliage around to be photographed as well. The white balance for this photo was higher because it was shot in the middle of the day when the sun was right above the train tracks. Artistic Qualities:This photo was taken in the middle of the fall when the leaves were beginning to change color. I took this photo to use in my glass and metals class as well. I wanted to take a photo of the train tracks to use stained glass to create a feeling like the fall foliage was at its peak. |
Composition:The globe spinning creates rhythm in the photo. By creating rhythm in the picture it makes the person feel like they are really spinning with the globe. Also, by having the background being black and the globe being colored it draws your attention to the globe, rather than to a distracting background.
Technical Aspect: In this photo the shutter speed was set to slow to allow for the object moving, the globe, to be become more blurred. This draws attention to the globe rather than anything else. Also, the globe is the focal point of the image and the viewer's eyes go right to the globe and nothing else. Artistic Qualities: This image is a compelling subject matter. When taking photos for our shutter speed unit, I did not want to photograph the globe spinning. I was afraid that the globe |
Composition: The tree with snow creates a depth of field in the foreground. The front of the tree is in focus while the background is not in focus. The snow on the tree is also in focus. The point of view of the tree was close up and in front. It creates the focus on the snow rather than the surrounding areas.
Technical Aspect: In this photo, there is a shallow depth of field which makes the snow on the tree in focus rather than the background and rest of the tree to be in focus. When editing, I turned the clarity up so the viewer can see the bristles from the tree and the detailing on the snow. Artistic Qualities: This photo was compelling to me because it had just snowed and the tree looked still and peaceful. It was right after Christmas so it made me feel like it was still Christmas time and that everything around me was still joyful and peaceful. |
